Brian Bowen Smith details the initial photoshoot for his book, "Drivebys" which began with a neighbor's daughter posing in a white dress against a wooden garage. Despite an unexpected rain shower in California, he decided to continue the shoot from inside his 1958 Ford F-100 truck. He explains how capturing the image through the truck's panoramic windows created a "ghostly" and "eerie" effect, reminiscent of a 1950s aesthetic, immediately making him realize the potential for a series.
